Sick lemon tree (forum)

We have moved into a regional property with a sick looking lemon tree. Obviously it needs some love but can anyone identify what that greenish weird looking things are on the branches? I'm guessing I should give it a fairly aggressive prune and then give it some feriliser etc.

Ah yes after googling lichen, I reckon that's what it is - thankyou!
reading some articles on Lichen - or really the lack of growth supporting Lichen forming... The first two things they suggest is lack of fertliser, which I strongly suspect is the case, and lack of water. Rainfall is high here so water is probably fine. The next thing is competing with grass growing under the tree.. and yep it was almost choked with tall grass right up to the trunk.
I have cleared grass around the tree and added mulch but kept the trunk clear. I added some fertliser and given it a good soak along with a dose of seasol.
The other thing I did was give it a radical prune mainly to cut off all the branches covered in that stuff, I did this before your post thuough, if I knew about the lichen before I would not have gone quite so radical.
Hopefully I haven't hurt it too much pruning so hard, but fingers crossed it will come back stronger.
