Solanum Rootstock - What works? (forum)

kmk starts with ...
Hello. There are a few topics on here from people looking for propagation material, but I can't tell if anyone has found what they were looking for...

I'd like to hear from anyone who has grafted solanums - especially eggplants and tomatos.
Were you successful in getting fruit?
What species did you use?
Which grafting technique did you use?
How tall did your plants get?
How long did they live?

I grew thai pea eggplants last couple years and found they grew quite tall and were very cold hardy for Melbourne - i removed ones in ground as were good temporary shade for a jack fruit - i kept one in a pot - cut it to 1mt and grafted 2 bonica & 1 Lebanese eggplants to it and are growing away quite well - i have a devil plant with same and the Lebanese on top got thru winter ok so will see how the pea eggplant rootstock goes now.

Ive mainly done wedge grafts on softer but tried a side veneer on tougher stems.
Make sure don't leave too much leaf on scion and put plastic bag over for a week or so till growth seen then harden over a week- also shade scion with a paper bag on hot sunny days.

I did a black russian tomato onto a devils fig that was growing out of the sidewalk out front. It took, I let it grow a few feet and hit it with roundup. I've now transplanted a few small devils figs into the fruitfly exclusion area and will graft them soon as the heat dies a bit (looks like this weekend). I'll post updates.
