I am looking for those seeds, seedlings or grafted plants. Anyone knows where to get them? Soncoya = Annona purpurea and Illama = Annona diversifolia.

Anything in Australia? I used to get plenty from overseas but only limited success with Soncoya. Those seeds need to be fresh.

I Germinated 3 Soncoya's from Tradewinds seeds last year. They got to about 20cms and the cold got them. But they were very quick to come up! From memery about 1 month.

I never bought or got seeds from them although I "know" both collectors. Soncoya seedlings have red stems. I haven't had dealings with AQIS for a few years. From what I have read here on various threads, it appears that it is easier now to get through the quarantine checks. Many years ago, it was quite hard even on items allowed in ICON.

Just bought a small one off EBay. What are they like?
I know EBay's dodgy but I couldn't resist. It's from a guy named counsent2, can anyone vouch for him?

John Mc, BJ sent me a page from e-jardim.com that is also printed across the top of one of those shots. He may have his 'mexicano' seed(s) from that source.Sorry to dob you in BJ.I haven't eaten illamas but have spoken to people who have tried quite a few. There are many varieties of them and the white fleshed ones are said to be sweeter than the red wioth some exceptions.Skin colour, shape, size, seediness and productivity are supposed to vary dramatically.

The small ones pictured on ebay look like the one grown at tropical fruit world. Seedy with almost no flesh. I could be wrong though. There are good ones. There has been a breeding program at nambour, so perhaps material will be released one day. I may have one in ground at my father's farm that may be an illama or a cross with atemoya. I'll know in a few years.
Mike, i didnt get the mexican Garcinia seeds from eJardim, but from the source they got theirs from. Very good site for information if you run the text through a google translate. Too bad we cant bring in Myrtaceous seeds from them at the moment :(

I've purchased a few things from that ebay seller. All have been nice little plants at a good price. I saw the Ilama the other night, but the image just looked like an average fruit - almost like reticulata.

Thanks BJ, I questioned that pic myself but discounted it as immature fruit and went ahead and bought it anyway. I just hope he knows his job.

trikus, peter and trina said they might give me one with the panamanian and guatamalan scions on one rootstock. The cyclone happened then and I didn't want to bug them about it.They reckon some soncoya are well worth it and good quality. They should have ditched the fruit conference and trawled the markets.

Thanks Mike, curious why are they trash, flavour ,size, seediness, let me know. The Poshte in the backyard this year was covered in flowers but so far none set ,think this might have to do with lack of water, cant keep enough up to it.Thanks again Mike.

Bad taste, seedy and flesh hard to get out.Poor cropping on a big tree also doesn't help.
