Where can I find sugar plum tree starts with ...
I noticed in years past you were not sure of what a 'sugar plum' was. Here is a photo, and I was wondering if you now know where I can get a tree, and if it would grow in the Redlands. You will notice it is an oval shaped fruit. These fruit are the sweetest plum ever tasted, even when they are still quite green coloured. Thanks, Beth.

HAve you a pollinator and do you get many chilling hours?
These plums need a lot of chill and NSW might be getting marginal unless your in a highland area away fom the coast.

Margaret, I had a friend with a D'Argen plum nearby, and we hardly ever get temps below freezing in Roleystone.
Did you mean chill hours?

I doubt that you would get any fruit off a sugar plum at Redland Bay because the sugar plum is European and requires 700 - 900 hours below freezing to set fruit you also need an European Plum such as Robe de Sergeant to pollinate the sugar plum...they are a great combination to grow because both produce beautiful fruit to eat as well as make jam and dry.

Your chances of getting sugar plums in Redlands is only a little better than an Egyptian mummy conceiving.
