I'm growing some NZ sweet potatoes, but have no idea when to check if the tubers are fully formed. Is there an estimated time?

sternus, I'm not sure where you are, but that would be quite late for WA. They are usually planted in spring from slips grown in September. So they would normally be ready about now.
What do you mean by NZ sweet potatoes? From NZ, or are they something different?

Erm I'm no expert, I just know they're a NZ variety called Red Kumara. They are ivory fleshed with purple marbling. I guess I planted them at totally the wrong time.

Don't despair, if you are in a warm district they might grow through winter and come good next summer.
If all else fails, the leaves are very nutritious. I put the nutritional analysis on another sweet potato thread a couple of weeks ago.
