A couple of years ago I planted an orange tamarillo and a red tamarillo side by side and now I only get orange fruit on both. Should I have not planted these together?

Did you ever get red fruits off the red tamarillo?

Definitely not mistaken. The tree was damaged by wind after the first 'red' fruiting. When it grew new limbs it produced 'orange' fruit.
Its not a miracle, its frustrating!

It sounds like you had a red tamarillo grafted on to a yellow rootstock. The graft was damaged and died and you now have the yellow rootsock tree.

I agree with Kath. This sounds like the most likely scenario.

No - it was a $9.90 one from Daleys (which is not supposed to the grated one) and also the damage was not as low as where a graft would be.
Never mind, I have 2 beautifully fruiting orange trees and if I decide to get (another) red one I'll just plant it elsewhere. Thanks everyone anyway.
