Thornless, seedless mandarins (forum)

Felicity starts with ...
Hi - I'm looking at planting a few fruit cushes / trees in my yard and would like to include a mandarin tree - I have a little child though, so would like something thornless, seedless, and (if there is such a thing) easy to peel at the same time.... am I asking too much or is there a variety that will do the trick?
Thanks!!

Cara cara orange is seedless. It may not colour well in a tropical climate. It's a blood orange. The thorn issue, depends on what rootstock the trees are grown on. Generally a cara cara should have no thorns.
Try a satsuma mandarin, they are seedless and should have no thorns.

The Okitsu Wase and the Daisy are seedless mandarins, the Nules Clementine will also be seedless if this is the only citrus tree you have and the flowers do not get pollinated. All citrus trees can produce vigorous and thorny watershoots if the conditions are right. Prune these out as necessary.
