Hi people,
I have an issue with my current crop of tomato plants not producing flowers at all.
I am located in Sydney and this is the first time in 20+ years of growing tomatoes where my tomato plants are producing no flowers at all. The plants are currently 50-60cm tall with a heap of very healthy foilage. I do not know if I am not getting flowers due to the inconsistent weather or if there is something in the air or if there is something missing from my soil.
The plants were put into the ground approx 6 weeks ago.
I also planted my cucumbers and peppers in at the same time and they are starting to profuce fruit- they are not in the same garden bed as my tomatoes
Is anyone else having issues with there tomatoes or know what the issue could be?

At a wild guess Harry, 1. The plants might not be old enough and, 2. You might have to supplement your soil with potash after 20+ years.

What variety of tomato ? Some bush types can fruit in 60 - 70 days from sowing, some vining types 120 days, most in between. Check if the var. is early or late type, 6 weeks is 42 days, so could be a couple of weeks yet ??
O'wise you seem to know how to grow vegetables, if they look super healthy, maybe too much TLC + fertilizer causing green growth, not enough stress to induce flowering ??

They are all Gourmet tomato varietys.
I have been planting the same variety for 20+ years with the same procedures, fertilizers, etc.
Though this is the first time where the plants have grown so big with no flowers.
For the first time i will also be planting a few different varietys which is a first for me. Mortgage Lifter, Brandywine, Pineapple Tomato, Rams Horn, Mary Italian and Tigerella. Has anyone tried these varietys and if so what are your experiences with quality, crop quantities, plant requirements?

If you are not using saved seed, any chance supplier has changed actual strain in pkt, ie there are many types and hybrids of Roma. If they are different"gourmet" varieties, and all behaving as you say, sounds like environmental factor.
