Can anyone identify what causes this orangey crystalised goo?

About 10 days ago I cut off a couple branches from a citrus (potted orange of unknown variety, waiting for some fruit)

The tree looks healthy, but has previously had snapped branches damage.

I hadn't gotten around to posting, but today close to where these branches were cut I see a couple more sites with the same thing. Unfortunately one site now right on the main trunk, so if its disease and needs to be cut out, I'll be in trouble

Looks like some sort of 'gummosis', try spraying with 30g copper oxychloride in 4

any idea what would cause it?
I double checked the base of the trunk still looks fine and I can't see any wounds near the sap (which yesterdays rain dissolved)

Brad, the tree seems to be stressing for some reason. Too wet, too dry, too hot?
The copper spray will fix it. I'd give it some sulphate of potash as well, to harden up the tissue of the plant.
