What is eating the skin of my nectarines? (forum)

Something is eating the skin of my unripe nectarines. There are no teeth marks, and whatever is eating the skin doesn't like furry fruit (my apricot and peach fruit remain untouched, and sit either side of the nectarine tree). We have a huge problem with earwigs eating seedlings and new growth on plants, and I am wondering if this damage could be done by them? Has anyone had this before?

may be so called 'pear slugs' they love plums and nectas. Very small grey black slug hides in the bark crevices. Spray with oil or insecticide.Since nectas often need copper spray anyway, it would not hurt to see if the problem vanishes with using that, but should not be used in combo with oil

Turned out to be European Earwigs eating the surface of the fruit. The nursery I bought the trees from have had this too. We had an infestation of earwigs following demolition of houses over the back fence. Organic solution for earwigs: Jars at the base of trees and shrubs, half filled with water, and a dash of tuna oil (found in the fishing aisle of department stores). Earwigs are attracted to the smell, fall in and drown in droves! Only empty jars when getting too full, as the smell of rotting earwigs seems to attract more of them.
