Good morning. Just bought a property in Ningi, QLD that has already established fruit trees. Does anyone know what this one is?
Thanks
Stevie

hi Stevie,

my guess would be it's an apple tree - based on the wood, what I can see of leaves, and the way the embryo fruit is clustered. you'll know in another month or so as the fruit starts to develop and take shape.

I would say European pear, possibly nashi could not check leaves properly for the toothed margins of nashi leaves, immature fruit looks like pear.

fascinating allybanana! I've never seen a pear tree, so can't pick those subtle differences in the early fruit shape.

Spmkoda - would you post some photo updates as the fruit matures and the tree leafs out? I'd love to see its progress.

super photo Stevie - thanks for posting it! now that I can see the leaves better, it certainly isn't an apple - but you'll still have fun working out what variety of pear it is ;-)

the fruit development is coming along very nicely too! looks like you've got a nice crop on the way.

Was going to post earlier and say it looks more like a pear tree, do you have any others in the area to pollinate it? If not it's probably a Williams or Packhams, one of the self pollinating varieties.
