Hi, I recently moved house and have this lovely apple tree in my garden but I haven't got a clue what variety it is! Can anyone help please .........
Also some of the apples have marks on them, why is this and how do I treat this?
Thanks

Have a gander and see if there is any evidence of a graft ; chances are you have a seedling but if it tastes OK you may have the naming rights.

Looks pretty much like a standard red delicious type to me, but I'm no expert.

Doesn't look like a red delicious to me... if it isn't a seedling there are still hundreds of named varieties in oz. It would be a challenge to definitively identify it and you would need blossom and ripening times and a description of the fruit flavour, texture, ect. If it tastes good, keep it. If not, graft over it ☺

Edit: you are in the UK? Replace hundreds of varieties with thousands.

Graft is when you put a mature plant onto a rootstock to produce fruit.

seeding - grown from seed.

you can tell by looking for a cross-sectional scarring in the bark of the trunk, generally around 15cm above soil level.
