My white sapote has grown to about 8 feet tall in 12 months but has no horizontal growth...its like a pole with a few leaves on the very top. I got it at our local market so no real info to fall back on. Any ideas what is making this tree shoot for the moon ?? Should I cut it to make it reshoot as base is only about an inch wide...its a hilarious looking plant

Hi Kit,
My seedling tree came up next to the grafted tree behaves exactly the same way. If I was you I would prune it back to 4 feet tall and let it branch out.
Good luck.

Hi Kit, this is typical growth pattern of the white sapote. Cut in back as jujube suggests to 4 feet tall to keep the tree to a manageable height.
