Is there anyone who grows this tree in Melbourne? I'd like to grow this but not sure if this is frost tolerant. Thanks

I grew seedlings in Victoria some years ago, they didnt survive over a mild winter in a plastic house.
Tried again in perlite/cocopeat propagation mix. They did a bit better, but still couldnt handle low temps.
If you are really keen, it may be ok as a large container plant You may need to give it heat over winter, or keep indoors.

Thanks jakfruit etiquette for your reply to my post. I don't expect this plant to fruit but at least to grow to a reasonable size and be tolerant to this chilling weather. Let's see how it goes. I'll keep it update. Thanks

Scott 10, it indeed is a lovely tree. I actually received this tree today and try to grow under a grow light indoors until the winter is over and then consider planting outdoors.

Hi,
I was wondering if you have any wood apple fruit available( dried fruit is okay too) or if you know where I can find it in Australia?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
Deepta

It might be available up in the tropics where I got the tree I posted above. But I haven't found any in Victoria.

Hi again Deepta, are you in Melbourne? just out of curiosity, what do you intend to do with this fruit? For planning or eating? Even though I haven't seen the fruit here in Melbourne, there are some shops who sell the puree and jams which are absolutely heaven. No other fruit that I know taste like it.

Sorry, used all my fruits for seedling. Fruits are usually high in tree and have to wait for it to drop, due to not using pesticides most fruit get holes even through thick shell. I am not selling fruits at the moment, as they are nearly all gone for this year.

Hi Michael,
I believe Deepta is looking for this fruit for the same reason as I am as I think we are from the same part of the world. We call it Kodbel and make a tangy and spicy mix using the flesh inside the woody shell. Coriander leaves, lime, salt, sugar, mustard oil and green chillies added to the wood apple flesh creates magic. Especially for our tastebuds.
I definitely would be interested too to know if I can get it somewhere in Melbourne.
