Yellow leaves and lemons falling off lemon tree (forum)

My lemon tree has been dropping a lot of leaves after they turned yellow...Also many lemons are dropping both big and small. Are they reacting to the recent heat wave last week with temperatures reaching 43 deg??
Or is it a lack of fertiliser? I havent been tending to it at all since I moved it and am feeling really bad about it now. Can someone advise me what is going on and what I could do?
I have hurriedly gone off to buy a pack of fertiliser meant for citrus trees. Should I fertilise it?
Thanks!

Have you given it any water during the heatwave? Give it plenty of water and it should put on some new growth over the next couple of months.

:P I did not. I have just pour a few buckets of water around the dripline yesterday.
