Loquat - Nagasakiwase

$44.00 ($44.00-$79.00 choose a size)

The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.

Native to rainforest and vine thickets in tropical Australia to as far south as Bundaberg and spread into Asia this is an attractive small tree with tasty berries. Obviously related to the citrus family the foliage is glossy and aromatic. Perfect for use in a mixed screen or bush food garden the orange berry is also a host plant for the swallow tailed butterfly when the plant is young. Fruits make a delicious jam that taste similar to candied honey.

$34.95 ($34.95-$49.00 choose a size)

The round knobbly fruit, usually reaching 3.5-4 cm in diameter have a distinctive and recognisably citrus flavour, with a similar globular texture to the more commonly known Finger Lime. Also known as Dooja or Gympie lime. Occurs naturally on the fringe of lowland sub-tropical rainforests of southeast Qld, from Brisbane northwards. This slender tree can reach up to 15m in height and 6-8m in diameter with multiple trunks, making it the most vigorous of the native citrus. The round lime is suitable for including in cordials, sauces, marmalades and lime flavouring. The skin is very thick (up to 7mm) and has potential for culinary use, such as grating into spice pastes, or for candied peel and may also have potential for essential oil extraction.

Mangosteen Purple

I bought this plant to help with pollination of my other Garcinia's. But I also enjoy the the fruits. I've managed to get the seedlings up a bit more since I bought it from you and I have them in the open exposing them to Brisbane winters.

Five year old seedlings(2 years inground). Protected in winter with green house cover. Purple mangosteens apparently don't like being too close to the sea! I'm 300 meters away and both seem to be responding well and growing just as fast as the achachas...

I have a 5m tall mangosteen tree grown from a seedling through the post. I'm about 4km from the sea. I put it down the side of the house under some large palms between us & the neighbours house, it's growing beautifully. I'm hoping for fruit in Feb

Mangosteen Purple

Try growing them hydroponically in rockwool cubes w/acidic nutrient solution for first 10 months, with both foliar and root applications. Use excellent nutrients and avoid deficiencies. Frequent rooting gel apps every 10 days (place gel on lower stem).

Fruits successfully in coastal Sydney (frost free, warm temperate climate) if given a position in full sun, sheltered from winter winds, and watered deeply once weekly in dry weather.

Mangosteen Purple

Is not pollinated, fruit and seeds are always clones of the parent. Ultra-tropical, killed at 4C. To grow properly it needs year-round hot, steamy weather. Not worth trying south of Mackay QLD. The best fruit in the world!
