Kiwiberry - Issai
We are located on the Central Coast NSW. We are growing our kiwi berry in a large plastic tub with a support behind. It is in it's 3rd season and have finally got several clusters of fruit. We water well and fertilise using a tomato and veggie fertiliser.

Bought a Kiwi-berry plant about a year ago from flower power. Currently has two little fruits on it so yes it is self pollinating. Don't know if the fruit seeds are viable for planting.

Supposed to be partially self-fertile. Would be good to hear from others how true this is.

The Hardy Kiwi (Actinidia.Arguta) are not related to the Gooseberry (Genus Ribes). They were called "Chinese Gooseberry" by early fruit explorers because of their similarity in size, color and taste (juicy, sweet, tart) to the more familiar Gooseberry.

I first saw kiwi-berries being grown 15 yrs ago, in the heavy-snow zone of New Jersey (USA). Growers used 1.6-m tall, overhead arbours to grow the vines on: the berries dangle, so this saved the fruit from sunburn, and made harvests much easier. --
