Pollinators for the Blueberry - Rahi

This is a Rabbiteye variety and therefore you need to match up with at least one of these other Rabbiteyes

Blueberry - Brightwell

$19.90 ($18.75-$49.00 choose a size)

Brightwell is a rabbiteye blueberry. Berries often form like grapes in thick clusters. This variety is often in the shops due to it's larger size and bigger harvest. It ripens in the middle or end of the blueberry harvesting season. It is self fertile but you can increase it's yield by planting it near other rabbiteye varieties. This variety is very well suited for the home orchard and low chill areas.

Blueberry - Powderblue

$19.90 ($18.75-$49.00 choose a size)

Noted because the fruit has a powdery blush and is medium in size. It is one of the toughest blueberry varieties with a harvest later in the season. A bigger harvest can be achieved by mixing with other rabbiteyes such as the tifblue or others will suit. A great selection for QLD and northern NSW as they don't need many chill hours for the fruit to set. Often the white flowers have a flush of pink. Grows well in pots and has thick enough foliage to be used as a hedge in summer but lets the light through in winter.

Blueberry- Premier

$19.75 ($18.75-$19.75 choose a size)

A Rabbiteye variety released from North Carolina this variety is an early season rabbiteye variety, that produces fruit of excellent colour, size and flavour. The bushes are vigorous and productive, and have been suited to mechanical harvesting.

Blueberry - Maru

Blueberry - Tifblue

$19.90 ($18.75-$49.00 choose a size)

This Rabbiteye variety was introduced in Georgia in 1955 and was for many years the standard by which all other rabbiteye varieties were judged. The fruit is firm and light blue, and has a good flavour when fully ripe. The fruit is in loose clusters, is firm and has a dry stem scar, making it suitable for mechanical harvesting. The fruiting period is as for powderblue and the bush is very productive and vigorous, for many years. See below for suitable pollinators

Blueberry - Gimme 5

$18.75 ($18.75-$49.00 choose a size)

A sweet, low chill, self pollinating Rabbiteye variety. This selection has been trialled and developed on the North Coast of NSW and is suitable for commercial and backyard production. A vigorous growing upright bush with medium to large flavourful berries. Showing less susceptibility to blueberry rust than other varieties. Blueberries prefer a moist, acidic soil and will grow well in full sun to part shade- protection from hot afternoon sun can be beneficial during Summer. Fruit yield will increase with cross pollination with another rabbiteye variety such as Powderblue, Brightwell, Rahi, Tifblue, Maru. One of the best fruits you can grow. Blueberries grow very well in containers or in the ground- provided the soil is acidic or amended to be so.

Blueberry - Climax

Blueberry - Blue Rose

$18.75 ($18.75-$49.00 choose a size)

A Northern highbush selection best suited to cooler climates. An excellent variety, with good autumn foliage, and large fruit. It is essential that the fruit be left on the shrub until the last minute, as the fruit is very acidic and will not ripen after being picked. When they are fully ripe they make an excellent berry for cooking or fresh eating. The skins will melt after about 10 minutes of simmering and produce a self-thickening sauce that is delicious poured over ice cream. They are one of the few berries that, when frozen and thawed, keep their form and flavour.Tall growing and extremely vigorous this blueberry is prolific. Start picking before Christmas and have blueberries into March. Most important. Blueberries require an acid soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. They also require a free draining loose friable soil. They dislike clay heavy soils. To aide the successful establishment of bushes it is best to build up beds by incorporating peat moss and garden soils at a 50/50 ratio. Peat is preferred as it is naturally acidic.

A dwarf Macadamia selection, growing to only about half normal size. Precocious bearer of small sized nuts. Ideal for pots or limited space.

Dwarf Mulberry - Black

$21.00 ($19.75-$89.00 choose a size)

This mulberry has a very low chill factor making it ideal for our subtropical climate. Pruning after fruiting allows it to be kept under 3mtrs, and also encourages multiply cropping throughout the summer. It is best to pick the fruit when ripe, as it doesn't ripen further off the tree. A benefit of a mulberry tree is that the fruit ripens over an extended period of time unlike other fruit that often ripens all at once. The fruits of the black mulberry, considered the tastiest and most versatile of the mulberries are large and juicy with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. The fruit of the dwarf black mulberry is the same as that on the large black mulberry that we all know and love. The fruit is large, resembling a blackberry, sweet and luscious. When not devoured fresh it is ideal to use in jams, wines and mulberry pies. (Dwarf Mulberry Tree Video )This variety performs excellent in the Subtropics. There has been feedback that this variety doesn't perform as well in Temperate Climates.

Loquat - Nagasakiwase

$44.00 ($44.00-$79.00 choose a size)

The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.
