Grass Tree

Grass trees are magnificent long living feature trees. They have leaves unlike any other plant, which are so fine that they sway ever so beautifully with just a small gust of wind, thus, adding a phenomenal kinetic element to your garden. Furthermore, they are also great for the ecosystem within your garden, as their dried up leaves at the base of the tree provide the perfect shelter for small native insects and animals. I highly recommend them, they're easily one of my favourite Aussie natives.

Grass Tree

They do not tolerate too much root disturbance. Once established they are reasonably bullet proof. Livestock love to eat them down to the trunk so keep stock away. Good drainage required.

Grass Tree

I planted 5 grass trees about 20 years ago, unfortunately 2 died but the other three have taken off. they are now all about a metre and a half tall and the trunks are about 25cm thick. I don't know why everyone says they are slow growing.
