13/04/25 Frost: About My Edible BackyardWhy Sandy31 Love's Edible Plants EDIT -9.01.2025. one fruit made it to maturity. Result-Dark bood red colurvery sweet, juicy and jammy firm . No tang in skin . Approx 45gms, round in shapeDefinitely a very good plum and keeper.pics attached My 2 year old Queen Garnet plum seedling has flowers bud this year.. It seems it has low chill requirements. hopefully the fruit tastes good too with time... note- only gulf Gold Plum is flowering and approx 8m away...Not sure if this Queen garnet seedling would be self Pollinating or may need a pollinator..Any comments??? photo updated 17.09.24  Commentssandy31 says... Also fruit trees next to it ( Gulf gold Plum and Angel low chill peach ) they all get a heavy fruit set. so i am not concerned about pollination or pollinators. Skin is dark maroon at fruit set, and turns pale pink when ripe. Fully ripe fruit is unparalled in flavor, and both nectarine and plum traits are easily detectable. Very productive tree is also quite ornamental. Tremendous purplish pink bloom in the spring, followed by a flourish of red leaves which mature into lush green in late summer.
