Pomegranate - Elche 7/10![]() Update: 3456 days 13hrs Comments: - Arrived with a flower/fruit already developing. I removed it, given the size of the plant, and am happy to wait for the tree to grow a little before letting it fruit. I love the shape of the foliage, and am hoping for an attractive back yard tree. Planted: 2015 Height 0.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 5 of 9 people found this review useful CommentsLissyK1 says... [955 days 23hrs ago]This grew very quickly. While it fruited almost constantly, no fruit grew bigger than a golf ball. And the insects loved them. I probably could have put in more effort, to be honest. It was a nice looking tree, though, with its red flowers.* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |
Pomegranate - Rosavaya (Cutting)![]() Update: 3474 days 4hrs Comments: - I am attempting espalier with one of the pomegranates along my side fence as a space saving technique due to limited room in my yard for full sized trees. The other is in the front yard. Approximately 2inches of new growth over the last week or so. Seems to be enjoying its new home despite not having full sun. Watering daily to get established after which hopefully minimal to no watering required. Pomegranate - Yellow (Seedling) 6/10![]() Update: 3756 days 23hrs Comments: - Purchased this heirloom as a seedling from Diggers a couple of years ago. Doesn't appear to love either the spot, soil or climate (my Kazake pomegranate is right next to it, and is thriving??). Am not expecting any fruit yet, as only second year. Lost all leaves in Brisbane Winter but has come back nicely through sping and summer. starting to prune now. Sorry - difficult to see in the pic. Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Winter SummerPollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Seasol and Occasional Worm Tea Pest Control: nil required (though i think new growth is being savaged by bush turkey) Organic Status:Organic Question: When will it fruit, is there anything i can do to help it grow faster. Pomegranate - Wonderful 8/10![]() Update: 4115 days 23hrs Comments: - Never had the chance to try the pomegranate fruit. I have had two new stems branches out and grow, now take over the other two original two stems. I have had no dramas with this one at all I just re-potted with a mix of potting mix, quincan rocks, a little cow/chook poo and a little peat it's happy as. Didn't really like the full sun, It wilted quick, so I got it in partial sun and it's being introduced to the harsh Cairns sun slowly. Easy plant so far to satisfy. Planted: 2013 Height 50 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Fertiliser or Organics Used: composted cow/chicken manure, seaweed, liquid fertiliser Pest Control: none needed just yet Was this review helpful? Pomegranate - Wonderful 8/10![]() Update: 4970 days 15hrs Comments: - The flowers are so vivid and beautiful - fruit will be a bonus! Bought from Bunnings so I am not sure on the variety, we have had flowers twice so far but no fruit. In a massive pot - this is our second attempt with the pommegranate - our first plant was in the pot and did not drain properly - with our wet season there was two inches of water in the top of the pot for about a week and the plant died. We now have made sure the drainage is better (more holes in the pot and a small layer of gravel) and the new tree is thriving Planted: 2011 Height 80 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Question:
