Struggling, probable due to cold nights. Bugs eating it, but getting lots of care.

Chilli - Rocoto Tree
Excellent yields. I have been supplying the neighbours over winter. Snails like climbing up the branches and ringbarking new shoots. Facing north against a wooden fence. Glove wearing when dicing is a good idea because there is plenty of juice
Chilli - Rocoto Tree
Very nice looking plant with the added bonus of lots of chillies all year round. I did have a plant die a few years ago but that's was due to severe frost.

My bush fruits really well in Tasmania. It is planted near a brick wall sheltered from frosts. Tons of fruit!
Chilli - Rocoto Tree
Grow from seeds took a year to fruit. Growing in a window box 5 trees and many fruits right through the winter in Melbourne. Very very hot and be careful when you are cutting them. I would suggest wearing gloves and then wash you hands vigorously.

James Wong's last book (UK) has recipes specific to this chilli (possibly called Gardening Revolution?). Really looking forward to growing it.

Chilli - Rocoto Tree
Produces approx 10 kg per mature plant. Great pickled for hamburgers, frozen or dried and ground. In sheltered conditions fruits 10 months of the year here. The only chilli I grow now - the best!!

This is a great fruiter. Bought from Daleys 4 years ago and still going. I have used seeds from the fruit and more seedlings have fruited. A fantastic fruit and heavy, heavy crop.

Chilli - Rocoto Tree
These chilli seeds germinate readily. I have 4 growing, the oldest of which is nearly 5 years old. I have to prune it from time to time as it gets very "leggy". A lot of friends are really shocked at the heat these puppies impart. Great sauce!
Rocoto Tree Chilli
In Emerald Victoria the winter is typically long, cold and wet. However, 3 Rocotto all survived, one keeping its fruit through the entire winter. Tip; plants must be well established before planting.

Unusual plant, pretty, very fruitful, nice flavour but fairly hot, around 60,000 - 120,000 Scoville Heat Units

It's great to have a chilli that will last longer than 1 season. Tried a green one & it tasted a bit like petrol! Waited for a fully ripe one & it was really good. Not too hot but great flavour & slightly sweet aftertaste - like a hot capsicum. Fanta...

CAWONGLA, NSW, Australia
Have had this plant, or its descendents, for quite a few years. The first one died back after fruiting well, and I'm not sure if it was just past its prime or if wet, dry, cold conditions damaged it, but fruit that fell off into it's pot self-seeded.
Clemton Park, NSW, Australia
this lovely cold climate chilli from the andes in Peru is a real hot devil with large fruits the size of a small lime, the best time to harvest is from winter to spring through to the end of spring as the fruit will get mushy in hot weather
Warrandyte, VIC, Australia
The Rocoto chilli was only 10cm tall when I gaveit to a friend of mine for Christmas. As the picture shows, it hasgrown amazingly well in a raised garden bed next to a fence, over aMelbourne winter and with very little care.
West Ryde, NSW, Australia
This cheerful shrub grows rapidly and responds to TLC but do not over-fertilise as with all capsicums / chilis. This produces all leaf and no fruit. The fruit is a good, medium hot, fleshy chili. Good for drying and powdering, or blending with vinegar,...

Beautiful plant. Very easy to care for and the chillies are amazing. Quite hot with a fantastic flavour. Strongly suggest using gloves when harvesting and using them though. I made the mistake of rubbing my face only once!
