Queensland Bottle Tree
Brachychiton Rupestris
Description: An unusual plant that has a distinctive bottle shaped trunk that becomes more pronounced as the tree ages. Large woody seed pods follow the small flowers. A semi deciduous tough tree that flowers in late spring.
Uses: An unusual yet interesting specimen tree for lawns or large, park-like gardens. Young plants may be used as container plants for indoor or outdoor use.
Position: Prefers a well draining soil, in full sun, open position.
CareA: Fertilise in spring. Mulch well to suppress weeds and conserve soil moisture.
Planting: Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
