Native Frangipani
Hymenosporum Flavum
Description: A fast growing, evergreen tree with glossy, rich green, oval leaves. In spring this Australian native plant bears terminal clusters of very fragrant, tubular, cream flowers that age to a golden yellow.
Uses: Ideal for large gardens, parks and road sides. Useful tub specimen when young.
Position: Flowers best when grown in an open site but will tolerate some shade. Protect young seedlings from frost.
Care: Benefits from watering during extended dry periods. Pruning after flowring can promote bushy growth. Old plants can be rejuvenated by heavy pruning into old wood.
Planting: Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist..
