Lemon Meyer
Popular home garden choice growing 4-5m tall. Rounded fruit with thin smooth skin. More frost tolerant and sweeter, juicier fruit than other lemons. Grows in humid tropical climates also.
LEMON CULTURAL NOTES
CONDITIONS: Select a warm sunny site with free draining fertile soil. Lemons tolerate light frosts but need protection from severe frosts.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Best in fertile, light sandy or loam soils. Use a good organic compost in a thick mulch layer, kept clear of the trunk. Feed with complete slow release fertiliser or citrus food late Winter/early Spring and late Summer. Water regularly by slow deep soaking over warmer months. Avoid cultivating around surface roots.
PRUNING: Thin crowded stems after fruiting if needed. Tall trees may need a light prune to keep manageable. Trim soft water or rootstock shoots.
