Lemon scented myrtle
Backhousia citriodora
Australian native shrub to medium sized tree grown for profuse floral display and highly aromatic leaves.
FEATURES: Long, narrow, light green, strongly lemon scented leaves. New leaves are red. Clusters of cream-white flowers in Summer and Autumn. Trees in rainforest areas can grow to 20m tall.
CONDITIONS: Suits most soil types. Prefers moist, well drained soil in semi-shade. Tolerates full sun in cool areas.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Protect trees from frosts and strong winds. Fertilise during the growing season. Water well during Summer.
