Magenta Cherry
Syzygium Paniculatum
Description: A fast growing shapely evergreen tree.
Foliage: Dense bushy crown of handsome dark green, glossy foliage.
Flowers: Showy sprays of white. Fluffy flowers appear at the end of the branches in summer.
Fruit: Grape-like clusters of magenta coloured fruit which ripen in autumn. Fruit are crispy juicy, and sweet tasting and make wonderful jam.
Cultivation: Plants thrive in a wide range of soils and conditions, preferring moist well drained soils. Frost hardy once established.
Uses: Widely grown as a specimen or small shade tree in south eastern Australia and potential for streetscapes.
