Called the red silky oak because in the early summer it is a spectacular sight when it bears dense heads of scarlet waratah like flowers. Will grow in most well drained soils. Mulch well to improve soil and growth. Avoid fertilising other than with native plant foods low in phosphorus. Avoid digging near roots and keep moist in dry weather.
