A medium to large, evergreen tree with a dense, spreading crown of handsome, dark green, glossy foliage and creamy white to pale mauve, fragrant flowers followed by decorative, round, pinky-brown fruit at almost any time of the year. An excellent shade tree that is well suited to large gardens or parks but generally grows too large for average home gardens. Plant in well drained soil which is rich in organic matter. Established plants are hardy and tolerant of dry conditions but need protection from hot sun and frosts when young.
