Sweet Lilikoi
Passiflora alata
Delicious Fruit
Description:
This Passionfruit produces abundant crops of yellow-orange, pear-shaped fruit with a sweet, delicious flavour. The cup and saucer shaped flowers are beautifully coloured, with the petals a brilliant carmine red and the central filaments banded in purple, red and white. The fragrant flowers are produced for most of the year.
Useful both as an ornamental climber and fruit producer. Prefers moist, well drained soil in a Sunny position with some protection from the, hottest summer sun.
Care:
Prune out the weakest shoots in spring to prevent overcrowding and again after flowering if necessary.
Planting Guide:
Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place in the hole so the soil level of the plant is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
