Small to medium pendulous shrub to 3m high. New foliage is a very attractive bright pink. Flowers are large and crimson occuring in large fluffy heads.
Tristaniopsis laurina - Water Gum
An attractive tree with dark glossy leaves and a dense crown. As a name suggests it prefers wet areas in rainforests such as creekbanks. Water Gum provides food for the blue triangle butterfly. Fruiting occurs in Autumn.
Ficus macrophylla - Morton Bay Fig
This Fig can take two forms, as a magnificent tall spreading tree or as a strangling vine depending on where the seed lands. The orange coloured fig turns a dark purple when ripe. The edible figs appear around February until May. 40m
Syzygium australe - Brush CherryA seedling form of the variety 'Hunchy'. A compact shrub to around 3m tall and 1m wide. Masses of white flowers followed by berries in Summer and Autumn.

A fast growing rainforest tree with masses of pink flowers along the branches in summer, attracting many species of birds and butterflies. The eudia is the host tree for the ulysses butterfly and may flower when only a year old.

Handsome large tree for parks and gardens. Has large edible nuts and is cold tolerant. A symmetrical pine suitable for container growing. Full sun.

This tufted hardy plant has arching strap-like leaves yellow-green flower spikes in spring. Suited to wet soils and is ideal for use around water features. It prefers part shade though will tolerate full sun. It can also be used indoors and will accept a wide range of soils and climates.
Podocarpus elatus - Ilawarra Plum Pine
Attractive rainforest pine that bears greenish seeds on swollen edible stalks. The purple fruit are grape like with a sweet juicy pulp with a subtle plum flavour. The slightly resinous fruit can be used for both sweet and savoury recipes. It is an attractive hedge due to its contrasting dark and lime green foliage. The timber is popular as a cabinet making.
Syzygium luehmanii - Riberry
The small leaved lilly pilly produces masses of red pear shaped fruit. Its handsome purple-red growth makes this lilly pilly one of the favourites. The fruit exhibits a juicy but slightly acidic clove-like finish reminiscent of cinnamon. It is a very popular ingredient in wildfood dishes.
Melicope rubra - Little Evodia
This is a beautiful small rainforest tree from North Queensland. Fast growing and tolerant of light frosts the vibrant lolly pink flowers light up the tree in summer. It is one of the food plants for the brilliant blue Ulysses butterfly.
Alpinia caerulea - Atherton Native Ginger (Red Form)
Versatile plant used by Aboriginal people. The ginger tasting roots were eaten and the flesh from the bright blue fruit. This Red Coloured form is from Atherton Tablelands.The large leaves were thatched and used to make shelters and to wrap food for cooking.

This is a large spreading strangling fig with a dense shady crown. It is an excellent bird attracting tree and is beautiful if grown in a container or used for bonsai.

A spectacular native rainforest tree for large gardens. Bright green, shiny, palmate shaped leaves with red bell-shaped flowers in summer. Flowers best after a hot dry summer. Tolerant of most soil types and positions.

Medium to large tree, normally inhabiting creek banks. Drooping foliage, usually with some bright red leaves. White flowers. Very fast and hardy if ample water is available.

Graptophyllum ilicifolium - Holly-leaved Graptophyllum

Native to lowland rainforest near Mackay, it is also called the Mt Blackwood Holly, after the location where it was first discoverd and the holly like apperance of the foliage.

An attractive, fast growing and hardy small to medium tree well suited to coastal areas. Good wildlife food source. Makes a excellent street tree or pioneer in reforestation.
Alphitonia excelsa - Red Ash
This tree is a natural coloniser in a wide range of conditions. Fruits are round and black and the mealy flesh encloses two hard capsules. These usually fall, leaving red seeds attached to the twigs for months.
Microcitrus australasica - Finger lime
A delicate rainforest tree that naturally occurs as an understorey tree in SE Queensland and Northern NSW . The fruits can be green and cylindrical in shape, up to 100mm long and only about 20-30mm in diameter. They have a thin skin that ranges in colour from green, yellow, red, purple to even a black. The inner cells are cylindrical balls filled with lime juice.
